HOBY Idaho is dedicated to encouraging positive social change within our state by facilitating and empowering high school sophomores (known at HOBY as “ambassadors”) to discover their personal leadership skills, work together in group activities, and take these skill sets back to their own schools and communities.  We are seeking highly-motivated individuals to assist in this process at our local seminar by filling the roles below.

The Director of Fundraising works closely with the Leadership Seminar Chair and Corporate Board to develop and implement a fundraising plan that is designed to meet HOBY Idaho’s current needs as well as provide financial room for growth. This role includes identifying and communicating with potential donors, submitting grants and donation requests, and working hard to find new funding sources for HOBY.

Must be 21+. Seminar attendances is not required for this role. A year long commitment is requested (until the seminar in June).

This role includes developing and implementing a media plan for the entire seminar year. To include social media, website, video, emails, brochures, etc. These materials and communications are used in recruitment, fundraising, and other HOBY Idaho initiatives during the year. In addition, the Director of PR is responsible for coordinating photos and video at the seminar and coordinating with the Director of Alumni Relations to publish an alumni newsletter.

Must be 21+. Seminar attendances is not required for this role. A year long commitment is requested (until the seminar in June).

This role includes spearheading the development of a HOBY Idaho alumni association, planning events and reunions, and promoting the outstanding things our alumni are doing. The Director of Alumni Relations maintains communication with alumni and works closely with the Director of PR to share accomplishments and other exiting alumni news.

Must be 21+. Seminar attendances is not required for this role. A year long commitment is requested (until the seminar in June).

Assist the Director of Recruitment with ambassador recruitment starting in October. May include calls, emails, and visits to local high schools. Seminar attendance is not required and there are no service commitments (help as much or as little as you are able).

Assist the Director of Fundraising with fundraising starting in October. May include calls, emails, grant requests, etc to local and national organizations. Seminar attendance is not required and there are no service commitments (help as much or as little as you are able).

Senior Staff (21 and older)

  1. Serves as a role model, mentor, & friend over approximately 10 ambassadors while participating in all seminar activities.
  2. Leads small group discussion and encourages ambassador participation during the seminar.
  3. Prior to the seminar, responsible for contacting ambassadors assigned to group
  4. Commit to the entire weekend from Thursday of the seminar weekend @ 12 p.m. to Sunday of the seminar weekend @ 4 p.m.
  • Document the leadership seminar activities and participants in photos and video.  HOBY Idaho can supply a camera if needed.
  • Post updates to HOBY Idaho social media throughout the seminar weekend.
  • Assist Director of Media with preparation of slideshow/video for closing ceremonies.
  • Commit to the entire weekend from Thursday of the seminar weekend @ 12 p.m. to Sunday of the seminar weekend @ 4 p.m.
  • Under the direction of Director of Operations, support pre-planned activities throughout the seminar
  • Commit to the entire weekend from Thursday of the seminar weekend @ 12 p.m. to Sunday of the seminar weekend @ 4 p.m.
  • Provide onside medical support during the seminar including basic first aid, medication control, etc.
  • Commit to the entire weekend from Thursday of the seminar weekend @ 12 p.m. to Sunday of the seminar weekend @ 4 p.m.

Junior Staff (Under 21 Years Old)

Applications Due: September 17, 2018

  1. Complete the application
  2. Have completed (or are on track to complete) 100 hours of service (logged at HOBY.org) before the seminar
  3. Have an ambassador registered from their school
  4. Participate in seminar planning and preparation throughout the year
  5. Raise or donate $200 for HOBY Idaho
  • Assist with recruitment, fundraising, website, media, etc. during the seminar planning year
  • Assist senior staff in encouraging & empowering HOBY Idaho Ambassadors during the 2018 seminar
  • Full year commitment, September – June
  • Only HOBY Idaho alumni are accepted for this position
  • Assist with recruitment, fundraising, website, media, etc. during the seminar planning year.
  • Prepare & organize pre-planned activities throughout the 2018 seminar
  • Full year commitment, September – June
  • HOBY Idaho Alumni status is NOT required for Ops Team
